Hello! I have final photos to share with you of the Brooklyn Coat, I love this coat! I had been so warm to wear. I’ve even used it on my lap as a blanket to keep warm as well.
There is a photo showing the small amount of fabric that I had leftover from this project (one positive of almost running out of fabric). I thought about wearing a belt with this coat for a closure. I cut 2” wide strips of fabric and overlapped them together by ⅜” (matching the seaming technique in this coat). I was going to also sew belt loops on the coat to wear the belt but I changed my mind on the belt feature. I decided that the finished belt with the jacket looked a little too robe-like on me. I’m still keeping the belt as I’d enjoy wearing it with open, handknit cardigans.
The smaller scraps shown in the white cotton basket will be used to stuff handknit and crochets toys! I enjoy using wool fleece or batting to stuff handmade toys so this detail will be a fun way to use up ALL of this lovely fabric. I have a kilt pin that I’m going to keep on the collar in case I want to wear it closed. The wool is warm enough that it’s been comfortable to wear open as well.
The pockets are still large enough to hold my phone (I made the pockets smaller as I mentioned in the previous post). Funny enough, this whole outfit was made with Minerva fabrics!
