Been catching up with some sewing that didn't quite make it past the finishing line first time around. It's just been too hot to start something from scratch.
Picked up a 3 metre piece of cotton fabric in a charity shop last year, and thought it would make a great toile. Nice and lightweight and washed and ironed well.
The Burda 7078 is an older pattern. Tried making it once before, but my fabric selection was too thick for all the gathers, and stood out like a tent 😒
This fabric is much finer, but I still removed a good third of the fabric from the front panel. I spaced the gathers out wider than suggested and the skirt looked a lot better.
The bodice fitting took a couple of attempts, but I got there in the end. There's a side zip on the left, and I added a pocked in the right hand skirt seam.
Don't know if I ran out of enthusiasm or time, but it ended up in a bag on the wardrobe shelf.
The thought of another lightweight dress in the current heat held a certain appeal. It needed hemming, so I neatened the raw edge and then hand stitched it. There was just enough fabric to add some short cap sleeves.
Wore it last Friday, when it was really hot, and it felt comfortable and light. I always think it's an added bonus if a toile can become a wearable garment.
