The Donny Shirt has been a really fun top to wear. The fabric has been so comfortable in the heat of the summer and there’s just something so light and ethereal about wearing a cotton voile top. I also love the structure that the voile brings to the collar while also being really light weight.

I’ve enjoyed tucking in the front of the top when I wear it. I really like the high low back hem details. The gathered fabric below the back yoke is a feature that is really comfortable to wear.

To mark the pocket, I like using a simple stick of elementary school chalk. I have a small manual pencil sharpener that I’ll use to sharpen the end of the chalk. Chalk as a material has been easy to remove from fabric when you’re done and it’s been an easy, cheap tool to pick up from the store as well.

I’d enjoy making this pattern again but I'd love to try a drapey fabric in the next go around. If I made this pattern again with a printed fabric, I’d enjoy pattern matching the front center seam. I did not pattern match with this project as I layed out the pattern pieces. I’d also enjoy cutting out the pocket on the crossgrain instead of parallel to the grain of the fabric.

Let me know if you’ve made this pattern and which fabric you've tried as well!
