Pattern Description: Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans. Classic high-waisted rigid jean pattern set. Includes four cuts and multiple lengths for tall, regular, and cropped. Pattern features a high rise to sit on the natural waist, button fly, close fit through the waist and hips, and classic jeans details.

View A is a tapered-leg jean. View B is a straight leg jean. View C is a wide leg jean. View D is a jean short.

Pattern Sizing: 0-30. I made a size 6 waist blending to a size 4 hip.

Were the instructions easy to follow? For the most part. I had made the shorts view previously, but this was my first time trying the cropped straight leg pant with a zipper fly.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I'm not sure what went wrong but my zipper fly doesn't stay closed and the zipper is visible. It looks pretty bad. I had made the concealed button fly before with no issues so I'm not sure if it was me or the instructions.

Fabric Used: Minerva Core Range 6 Wale Stretch Woven Needlecord Fabric Dark Red. It's a nice weight and has some give to it, but I did end up breaking a couple of needles because of the thickness. I also did not bother with topstitching thread b/c it would just get lost in the wales.

Changes/alterations: I made a muslin first and then added a ton of adjustments, including adding width to both front and back inseams, adding to the front side seam, removing fabric from the back waist, shortening the rise, moving the knee placement, and adding length to the lower leg to make up for moving the knee up.

However, I ended up adding too much to the back inseam and there's some extra fabric bunching underneath the bottom.

Also, the leg length turned out to be a little short so I did a very narrow single fold hem. I would add at least an inch of length next time.

Would you sew it again? I'm pretty discouraged with how this pair turned out because of the zipper, so probably not. If I did want to sew it again, I would fix the bunchy fabric under the bum and do one of the button fly variations instead of the zipper.

Conclusion: Not my best. I will probably only wear these around the house. It's too bad because I love the color and the silhouette. FWIW, they are very comfortable.
