Coiled Kingdom Birthday look

I have decided to coin a new style of sewing and I've decided to call it Ath-tailored .I realizeThat I love the look and crispness of a tailored garment but I want the flexibility, the ease of movement and ease of where that needs and more casual day-to-day lounge around outfits have. So when Minerva exclusive Ponte di roma fabrics came up I knew that I could make the secret pajamas outfit of dreams.

Now I am no new to ponte fabrics. I have even designed patterns with ponte in mind. When it came to my first pattern with KnowMe ME 2009. Ponte with its medium weight and structure lends itself to things that require good drape and can be manipulated to give the look of a woven while still having the flexibility and ease of comfy knit. As I was browsing through the different print options this snake print literally stopped me in my tracks. With its many different colors and how the snakes were displayed it gave me the vibes of Prints seen by designers such as ETRO and Gucci. When the fabric arrived I was captured by how soft the hand of the fabric was and even after its initial wash the colors remained true meaning I already knew I was going to get a good garment once made.

For this look I knew I had a few pattern options I could use to get the look I had in my mind. I settled on using one of my favorite vintage pattern lines which is Stretch and Sew. I have found that they are awesome to get really nice results for tailored looking garments out of knits. I used patterns 1705 and 1765 to make this look and will be utilizing these patterns more to make more sets as it would be a great uniform. Also you got to love vintage sewing techniques such as using fusible woven interfacing to make pocket stays that allows you to make crisp welt pockets in knit.

Now with the outfit done I am so excited for my upcoming birthday! Styled with a red mock neck to accent some of the red snakes in the look and gold accessories I feel incredibly stylish and comfortable. I can wait to get more ponte and make other versions of this set!
