I would love to be a Minerva Ambassador. I love looking at what other makers make, how the fabric looks made up and what pattern they have used. It inspires me to buy the fabric or pattern and I would like the opportunity to inspire other makers too. I have been sewing for over 50 years, inspired by my mother who taught herself to follow dress patterns and sew. Sewing was the only O’level that I managed to attain!  When my children were young I went back into education and studied a  City & Guilds fashion and design course which I absolutely loved and didn’t want it to finish. I have self drafted patterns in the past, but tend to buy commercial patterns these days, which often entails a lot of pattern adjustments as I am only 5’ and pear shaped! I love to sew vintage and modern patterns, have a passion for dancing and visiting 1940’s and rock’n’roll events.

After viewing this fabric made up on the Minerva site I fell in love with it and when my son asked what I’d like for my birthday, this was the perfect present. 
The fabric is very delicate, lightweight and drapes beautifully, I  particularly like the way the colour of the flowers pop out.  It’s the perfect fabric for another Now & Then Hepburn Shirtwaister pattern.  I decided to change the neckline to give it a more up-to-date look, also I decided to make a size 10 this time as the 12 was very generous in size, also shortened the bodice by 2 cm as I’m quite short in the bodice and shortened the length by 4cm too. 
 As the fabric is so delicate I used a microtex needle size 60, which sewed up perfectly without any snagging or pulls in the fabric. I’m so pleased with the finished dress, it’s just perfect for my upcoming holiday and can’t wait to wear it then!
