Hello again! I’m sharing today about the final Montavilla dress with a very lovely, rayon challis that is an exclusive print from Minerva. I love the finished dress!! The front two slits make the length quite comfortable to walk and move around in. The belt is included in the pattern and is a fun option to wear.

I forgot to take pictures of the dress without the belt! This is also a really comfortable way to wear the dress as well (removing the belt for “after dinner” or “all of the time” wear). The pockets are amazing as well. The size of them are deep enough yet they’re not noticeable as you wear the dress. When I wear my dress, I will place my essential items in these deep pockets from my purse. The pockets act as my purse and I will skip carrying one with this dress. I’d love this deep pocket option for all of my dresses.

One mod that I’ve made in the past (that I didn’t make in this dress) is to add elastic to the top channels of the pockets (mimicking the recommended elastic adjustment in the underarm channels). As drapey as rayon challis is, the top of the pockets have a loose drape as well. I don’t mind this but I thought I’d share this option if you make a dress with this fabric as well.

As I’ve made this pattern in linen, chambray and now rayon challis, it’s neat to see how each fabric brings a different look to the top shoulder ruffles. I love the drape that rayon challis brings to the shoulders in this dress.

I REALLY enjoy wearing this dress. The bold print and bold sketches make me feel like I’m wearing a piece of artwork. It was quite fun to wear on the beach (for the photos). I highly recommend you check out this fabric! I love that Minerva is branching out to their own fabrics (hiring artists to collaborate for the fabric designs). You could absolutely make anything that you’d like with this fabric but my favorites are this maxi dress and long pants (to highlight the print and not break up the large print in the fabric with seams).
