Pattern Description: The Core T-Shirt is a timeless wardrobe basic, our take on a classic crew-neck t-shirt. With a slightly boxy silhouette, it comes in two lengths with two sleeve options and is destined to be made more than once.
View A is a semi-cropped tee with short sleeves, the perfect length to pair with high-waisted pants. View B hits at the hip with 3/4 length sleeves. All views feature an optional patch pocket and an optional back neck and shoulder binding for a professional-looking finish.
Pattern Sizing: 0-32. I made the size 2 in View B.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except I lengthened the sleeves.
Were the instructions easy to follow? This is my third make using this pattern so I did not follow the instructions but from memory I do think they are easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I really like the shape of this t-shirt. It's my favorite boxy tee pattern.
Dislikes: From what I can remember I don't really care for the back neck binding that extends into the shoulder seams. I skipped that part.
Fabric Used: Minerva Core Range Denim Look Cotton Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric Anthracite. I used 1.5m. The fabric is a nice beefy cotton jersey with a good amount of stretch and recovery.
Changes/alterations: I did not want 3/4 sleeves so I added 1 inch to make them bracelet length (I have short arms).
Would you sew it again? This was my first time sewing the long sleeve view with the longer body length. I would sew it again but I would consider shortening the long length by about 1.5" so that there is less fabric to tuck in.
Conclusion: This is such an easy pattern that sews up very quickly. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the denim look of the fabric but I think it adds a nice texture to the outfit and elevates it beyond a basic tee. I'm sure this one will get a lot of wear in my fall/winter wardrobe.
