I love jumpsuits and I adore the Minerva Exclusive challis, so no surprise that I made a jumpsuit with this fabric. The pattern is the latest PDF sewing pattern release from Sew Over It, the Jemima jumpsuit and dress. The front bodice has pleats from the waist and the same pleats are also on the front skirt and the front of the pants for the jumpsuit option. The back has elastic in the waist. There are no closures, so that makes it even easier to sew. Originally I was thinking to make the dress option, but I knew that I will definitely get more use out of the jumpsuit, so I changed my mind :). I started with my usual size, 12 for the bust and 10 for the waist and hips. I make a toile ( a fitting garment) almost always, but with a jumpsuit, I would never skip it. There are some things that can go awfully wrong in a jumpsuit , like a too-long crotch or too short, both would be uncomfortable and not attractive :) For my toile, I used a piece of viscose from my stash, similar to the final fabric. I made some adjustments to my liking, I will make a video to show my toile and the changes I made based on the fit of the toile but in short: -raised the front neckline by 1cm all the way from the center front to the shoulder and also added tho the back piece at the shoulder but blended back in to the original line, I liked the original back cut. -I raised the armhole by approx. 1cm as I wanted to be sure that my bra won't show -made my usual sway back adjustment -brought the back to a size 10 from the armhole to the waist ( first I cut 12 and blended to 10 at the waist) For the pants: -I straightened the side seam at the high hip, ( the original has a more curved shape but I am more straight) Further I took 1 cm extra seam allowance on the side seam, from the hem up, blending to nothing at the waist. -On the inseam I also took a bigger seam allowance all the way up to the crotch seam, approx 1cm. -Also, because the back was a bit too long in the crotch and there was a bit too much fabric on my back leg, I took a bigger seam on the back leg only, blending back to the original at the knee approx. That sounds like a lot, but actually is just some tweaking to the fitting garment. When I was doing my fitting I realized at a moment that the more I looked at it the more I got different ideas to do:), I get that when I start to spend too much time on a project, borderline overfitting :) Oh, and I had to add pockets!
