Pattern Description: Simplicity 4125-Misses Wrap Blouses with Front and Sleeve Variations. This pattern is OOP but I am reasonably sure that it's the same as New Look 6560. The New Look has fewer options, however.
Pattern Sizing: 8-24. I made a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes. I made View E with the Flounce from View C-D.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were surprisingly detailed. They even tell you to French seam the flounce. I did not have any issues following the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Love the wrap style and all the variations included. I did not like the way that they wanted you to close the blouse (ribbon tie on the inside, button on the outside, separate unattached belt piece)
Fabric Used: I used a Minerva Exclusive Viscose Challis. I love the vibrant print--it's perfect for spring. I used Best Press to give the fabric a bit more body but this particular viscose wasn't too challenging to work with. It has a nice body to it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Alterations: I did a 3/4" narrow shoulder adjustment, a 2" small bust adjustment, and halved the width of the back darts to give me more room in the waist.
Design changes: I didn't like how they wanted you to do the closures and I hate the idea of having a separate belt. I cut two belt pieces, one long and one short and left a hole in the right side seam. I feed the tie through the hole and tie it up on the left. So much simpler and no need for extra closures. I also lined the flounce instead of hemming it and I feel like this was necessary as the wrong side will show when worn.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I really enjoyed sewing this wrap top. My favorite part is the cap sleeves which are fully lined. You gather the outer sleeve at the hem and stitch it RS together with the lining at the bottom, then you turn it and treat the 2 pieces as one after that point. it gives a nice fullness without being tight at the bicep like you might get with elastic. I want to see how much wear I get out of this top before making another but I love how many variations there are in this pattern and I could see myself making more.
Conclusion: It's really too bad that this pattern is OOP but the New Look one would be a great sub. It's such a pretty spring blouse and the fabric really shines.
