Hello! This is part 2 of me sharing about making the Evelyn Blouse as a pattern hack into a bodysuit.
Final thoughts: I think the next time I would use a pair of underwear with a wider waistband. I made this one work by using a small seam allowance for the serged edge. I didn’t want to lose the top elastic in the seam.
I’m really happy with the finished top!!! I realized through this process that keeping a dressy, woven top tucked in really bugs me. Sometimes a dressy top will slide around or pull out in places as I wear them and although I’ll still wear said top, the process of keeping it tucked in bothers me. I just can’t express how comfortable this top is!! I can put it on, put on a pair of pants, and it stays in place.
I really appreciate the design elements included in this top. I love the front placket that looks like a button up but it’s so much simpler to make and to wear. I like the V detail on the sleeves that elevate the look. I love the band collar for a professional look. I find that I prefer the look of banded collars over a straight point collar.
Having gone through this process once now, I’d love to add this pattern hack to other woven tops that I love!
I recommend you check out this pattern and also recommend you try this pattern hack as well.
