I decided to join in the fun that is the #sewmaxiformothersday sewing challenge hosted by Crystal (@crystalsewsandstuff) and Tea (@crumpetsteaandsewing) on Instagram. This is the fourth year of th3 challenge and I have been trying to participate since the beginning. Finally the stars aligned ✨️

This year's theme was "Make A Statement" so I chose to use the rest of this fantastic yellow floral viscose jersey and hacked the newest pattern from Made for Mermaids with a ruffled hem. Like most patterns from this indie company, Stephanie pattern is very versatile and comes with options for dress in 3 lengths, romper and jumpsuit. There's also a front split variation for the dress and you can choose to make this with or without a waistband.

To get this pattern to fit me, I made a few adjustments to the Size Yellow:
- Cheater full bust adjustment by grading up to the Size Orange bust, according to the pattern instructions
- Cut a 3-inch waistband instead of the 2-inch one that was included in the pattern
- Cut a 1-inch strap instead of the 3/4-inch included one to cover my bra straps
- Cut the skirt at knee length and added a ruffle that was 18 inches long and the width of fabric (so 2 pieces total for skirt front and back)

I really love how the print of this fabric makes everything look so effortlessly chic. I just feel fabulous wearing it. And the twirl factor! 🤩🤩🤩

Would love to make a few more of these dresses and maybe also try a jumpsuit. But maybe a little more on the casual everyday side.
