As I stated in my previous post, stripes just call my name and this cotton, linen and rayon blend is no exception. The hand of this fabric is fabulous, it has an amazing drape so I wanted to take full advantage of that drape. I went to Instagram looking at some of my favorite sewists’ accounts. One is My Sweet Sunshine Studio and Alexis made a gorgeous Anna Allen Anthea Blouse. I took a look at a few more in the hashtag and went right to order it.
I cut my fabric in a single layer so all the stripes were the same and straight. After that the sewing was straight forward and I was really surprised how quickly it come together. The bias binding at the neckline and sleeve edge is such a nice finish. What is it about stripes on the bias? I just love how it looks.
I had these white buttons in my collection and I like how the brighter white contrasts with the red-white-blue stripes.
There are several things I love about this blouse but the one that stands out is the fit of the blouse through the body, it has the perfect amount of ease, it has a loose fit but not too much. It is a nice balance with the sleeves.
I have another garment coming with this fabric and it is another winner. Just as I stated at the beginning of this post, the fabric has the perfect drape!
