As soon as I saw this cosy looking fleece backed sweatshirt fabric I knew it would be perfect for my puppy loving daughter.
I decided to make her a loungewear set from the fabric since we're still all spending a lot more time at home at the moment and she loves her cosy clothes as much as I do!
I ordered 1.5 metres of the fabric and, as it was very wide, I managed to get a sweatshirt and a pair of joggers out of that length which was fab.
For the sweatshirt, I decided to use a pattern I already had in my pattern stash and have used many times, it's the Ikatee Jasmin sweatshirt. This sweatshirt is a lovely fit for my daughter and it's super quick and easy to make up.
For the joggers I used a PDF download pattern by Made By Me patterns which again is a lovely quick and easy sew.
I actually wanted to make this set in secret for my daughter's birthday so I washed and dried the fabric one day when she was out at school and cut out all of my pieces one evening while she was in bed. The fabric washed beautifully and required no ironing so that was a bonus.
I decided to use some grey ribbing I had in my stash as a bit of contrast in the sweatshirt and to bring out the grey colour in the dog print and I think that works quite nicely.
This was a super quick make, after cutting out I sewed up the whole set pretty much on my overlocker (even the neckband). The only part I needed the sewing machine for was the pockets in the joggers, for attaching and topstitching.
This fabric sewed really nicely, there's quite a good amount of stretch in it so I did make sure I pinned carefully before overlocking so that I didn't stretch anything out too much while sewing. The stretch in the fabric makes the set even more cosy I think.
My daughter was so pleased with her new cosy loungewear set and likes the fact that she can wear the items together or separately with a different top or pair of leggings.
I think this fabric would make a lovely coat, jacket or romper for a baby too.
I hope you like what I've made. I've linked the fabric below so you can go and check it out for yourself :)
