Waist tie:

For the waist tie, I started the stitching of the tie at the center back seam. I didn’t want to start the waistband stitching along one of the short edges of the tie (with tencel being a thin fabric). I’ve never approached stitching a tie in this way but I was really happy with how much easier it was to stitch in this construction order. The start and end of the stitch line is hidden in the center back seam.

For the suggested stitching of the waistband, I found a large clear ruler helpful to pin the waistband in place (at the dimension suggested in the pattern).

For the box stitch attachment, I found a paintbrush handy to test the stitch angle without marking the fabric.

Tying the pants:

The pattern includes instructions for how to tie the pants but I thought I’d share a few process photos, for fun. I wanted to add a few notes for how I like to put on the pants.

I’m glad I went with the suggested pattern size for my dimensions (including the suggested ease) because this gives enough fabric for the foldover feature. When I put on the pants, I like to pull the waist up high.
