Hello! Today I bring to you some beautiful ‘Jogging Jersey Knit’ fabric. Smooth on the outside and fuzzy warm on the inside. It’s a French terry with some horizontal stretch and the colours are wonderful! I went for a luxe ‘petrol’ version and the pictures don’t really do the colour justice.
I’d never tried making a hoodie before but the Halifax Hoodie by Hey June Handmade was calling to me. The perfect partner for this cosy knit fabric. I went for a size XL and View C with the zip.
The first few pieces went together well – pockets and main body assembled. The fabric was really nice to sew with, but I did use a walking foot for the whole project to avoid stretching and slipping.
The sleeves are inserted in the flat – my favourite! Again, the fabric behaved very well with this as there was a little stretch for ease.
Whizzing up the sleeve and down the side seams a jacket shape was forming. But it was here I got a bit unstuck! Attaching the cuffs and waist band proved tricky as there are 4 layers of quite thick fabric to content with and wow my overlocker did not enjoy that at first.
Having rescued a bit of waistband fabric, had a cuppa and thought it through. I went back the sensible way and attached it by using the stretch stitch on my regular machine, walking foot and less pressure. Success!
