I really love projects that I can whip up in a day, and this top was exactly that. Having found myself with some spare time to sew during the holidays I really wanted a quick and easy project. In general, I love more involved makes, but from time to time an easy make is exactly what is needed. For me, jersey tops are my go to for these kind of projects. They're super easy to make, easy to fit and can be sewn almost entirely on an overlocker.

I'm always on the hunt for good jersey fabrics and this viscose lycra fabric from Minerva is beautifully soft with a lovely drape, perfect for a t-shirt. I really like the pastel lilac colour, I hesitated for a while over it as it's not a colour I often go for but recently I've been really liking pastel clothes.

One thing that I don't seem to make enough of are long sleeved t-shirts. I have a lot of tops with short sleeves but for some reason my mind seems to jump from that straight to jumpers, entirely missing out long sleeved t-shirts. This t-shirt is more of a 3/4 length and I like that as a variation compared to others. I also decided to fold up the hem on the sleeves twice on the right side rather than the wrong side. It's secured with only a couple of stitches on either side and it's a simple detail that I'm quite pleased with.

It's such a simple top that I wanted to add something extra to it. After wanting to try out the technique for ages, I finally bought some iron-on vynil from Happy Fabric. It's definitely worth trying out, so much fun and very addictive! I chose to iron on 'Tokyo' onto this top and I have so many plans for adding slogans and other designs to me-made t-shirts.
