Hello again all you fellow makers. I am back with my newest project. And I am happy how well it turned out. This beautiful pleated chiffon fabric has cute polka dot pattern on it. Fabric is very light and it drapes so nicely. I also love the color combination of blue and white polka dots. It is a classic.
When I started to work out with this fabric I was quite nervous. Fabric is light weight chiffon which makes it little bit harder to sew as it is quite slippery fabric to work out with. I have sewed with this kind of fabrics before, but these kind of fabrics are not my favorite ones to sew. I am already quite experienced sewer so I was doing quite ok sewing this fabric. Although I would not recommend you to start with this fabric if you are a beginner sewer. If you are little bit more experienced this fabric would be quite ok to start to practice sewing little bit more difficult fabrics. For experienced sewers I would say you go and make something fabulous out of this fabric.
I think this fabric is just perfect for a light summer skirt. It reminds me little bit of sailor style, so you know it would be on top of the fashion every summer. As I said already earlier this fabric and print is a classic. I think you could also use this fabric in a cute summer top or shirt also. Or then do a dress where you use this fabric in a hem part and top part something else more structured fabric.
This pattern I used in this skirt is self drafted by me. This skirt I had in my mind was so basic I thought I could just draft the pattern myself. As a waist band I have used quite wide rubber band. So this skirt is smart but also quite comfortable to use. This fabric is quite light as I already mentioned and because of that you can see little bit through of this fabric. That is why I did make a lining in this skirt. So no one are not able to see what kind of underwear I am wearing while using this pretty skirt.
I think my skirt is very multi usable. It fits into everyday style but with right accessories it is good for a dinner or small parties with friends or family too. It is quite important to me in a garment that I can use it in many different kind of events. It is always sad if you do not find usage for a piece of clothing just because the amount of events you can used it in is so small.
And ps. this fabric looks amazing if you are using it in a windy day.
