This dress makes me happy! We are in a better place where I live regarding this pandemic, and we have a little more freedom to be out and about. This Jardin Stretch cotton sateen dress symbolizes so much for me. First, it is my first completed summer dress. Also, it marks the start of a beautiful summer after being stuck at home for so long. Then, it is my first “fitted” dress since having my boy in September 2019.
Before diving into the details of how this dress came about, lets talk about this beautiful fabric. When I came across this fabric, I instantly saw me wearing a sundress on a warm summer day. Let us also acknowledge these vibrant colours making it an amazing summer print. Purple and blue being my favorite colours, I had to work with this gorgeous print. It was a no brainer! Since I decided to go with a more fitted silhouette (then what I have been sewing for the past 2 years now), it was a major plus for this fabric to have a nice. It gave me more room for errors… See, my midsection is no longer what it used to be hihi! The fabric is very breathable which makes it a great one to wear in the summer months. I had no issues working with it. It was easy to cut and sewing through it was easy. I used an 80/12 universal needle. For some reason, buttonholes where easier to make using an 90/14 needle. In my next post, I will share more on fitting this dress.
