Hello! It's been a while since I've last posted. I have a few Minerva fabrics to sew up and I'm excited to share this first one with you today!
I ordered this fabric back in April or May as part of the special collection launch, so it didn't arrive until late July/early August. To be honest, I had forgotten what I'd even orded by the time it arrived, ha ha. It was quite a nice surprise to find this beautiful fabric in the mail!! I've been working so much with knits lately (knits are so quick and easy!), and I wanted to make something with a woven, non-stretch fabric. I have a few patterns that I've been holding onto that have been waiting for the right fabric to come along. This lovely viscose challis fabric for a skirt pattern I'd been holding onto!
Like I said, this fabric is a viscose challis and has no stretch to it. It's kind of lightweight; maybe in-between lightweight and medium. It's the perfect weight and make for draping. It really does drape beautifully, don't you think? I'm really pleased with how it draped/worked for this pattern. The fabric is good quality (Iike all of the Minerva fabrics I've enjoyed over the years!) and it was great to work with.
The pattern I used is Butterick 6773. As you can see, this fabric was the right pick for this pattern. I chose a different button size than the pattern called for; I wanted chunky, irregular buttons that would stand out and make a statement with this fabric, because this fabric is fun and deserves good compliments! I absolutely love how it looks and how it fits. It feels very feminine and almost slightly vintage. We were actually asked to do a family photo shoot (for a school board campaign) at this small airport by our house, and I thought it would be the perfect place to photograph this skirt because it almost has a 40's feel to it, don't you think?? I feel like I hit a homerun with this one :)
I'm really excited about my next fabrics that I have to sew up. Stay tuned!!
