It’s a Snoopy Christmas! Minerva were kind enough to gift me some wonderful green and gold cotton this Christmas, and what perfect timing as I knew I’d love to try and make a quilt this year. Talk about leaving it until the last minute… I had some amazing Snoopy fabric which was begging to be made into something long-lasting and festive. I had a pack of mixed design, so a quilt seemed ideal to show off the print. I have only ever made the square patchwork type of quilts before, and even then I don’t think I ever ‘quilted’ them as such, just bound the edges of fabric! Happy for a challenge I found a festive motif online and just went for it cutting squares and triangles. Trying my best, I laid everything out on the floor thinking it was symmetrical, but I did have to unpick some of the blocks again and again! The extra time to get it right paid off though and at least a star-ish design can be seen on the quilt rather than just a mash of red and cream randomness. The wadding was from the stash and I had to Frankenstein some pieces together to get the width. The Minerva cotton was absolutely perfect! The width is 55 inches and such a great discovery to find it laid completely across the back of the quilt topper without any piecing having to be done. It is a luxurious emerald green colour with some gold metallic stars on 100% cotton – such nice quality and it sparkles nicely in real life. I quilted a bit of a star shape across the fabrics and then stopped as I aren’t do any more. I already fixed a load of puckering and didn’t want to risk further ruffles!
