Hi, Samantha here from CrafternoonTeas,
Today I’m sharing with you how I hacked
#sashamaccalls from a dress into separates. Find out why I did this in my previous post and let’s get on with the hack..
I stitched this dress in view C in the Spring and when I saw this gorgeous floral cotton I knew it would look great in a timeless top and frilly skirt version of
#SashaMcCalls. I used 3.5m and it was enough for the project.
I changed the puffy sleeve for a capped sleeve from M7381 and extended the bodice pattern a few inches so it tied at the waist. I added an internal tie to the dress top and a button fastening.
The skirt was a mash up of version A and C as I loved the frills and the skirt wasn’t too heavy with two tiers of frills but I wanted the length so it was more practical length for this Mum of two! I added a self drafted internal waistband and an inner press stud and button fastening.
Love this look with trainers for the day or dressed up with heels for the evening. I think the top would also look great with jeans or with a pencil skirt for the office.
The fabric gave it such a timeless feel and I would highly recommend making a dress or top from this fabric as it was so fabulous and soft to wear…
I am now on the look out to hack my dresses patterns into separates as I have the bug!
Have a great Tuesday!
Samantha xx
