When I ordered this interesting fabric I was thinking about making a jacket for spring.. I didn’t have any particular pattern on my mind.. The fabric type is canvas, a cotton – linen blend.. I thought it would be an interesting pick for outerwear.. I calculated that 2 meters would be enough, even though the width is only 110 cm.. As time went by, I couldn’t find a jacket pattern that I liked so I switched to a safe project – dress making.. The fabric is firm, and requires a pattern that keeps the shape.. I was attracted to this fabric because of the bold print.. It reminds me of block printing.. You can see the natural color of cotton – linen and the 3 color print.. The geometry and the colors go well together.. I especially love the pink border.. It makes this fabric more special.. I was looking for a dress pattern to show off the fabric in its best way.. I wanted to include pink border for details.. The pattern 103 from Burda Style 04/2020 caught my eye.. I liked the simple shape, straight neckline and the 8 panels skirt.. I traced the pattern and checked if I had enough fabric for a midi length version.. Luckily, I had just the right amount of the fabric.. If I had only 10 cm less, I wouldn’t be able to squeeze all pattern pieces.. Thanks to the skirt panels, I was able to include pink border at the hemline.. As you can see I used pink details for the straps and at the neckline..
