Cosmic Cosmos
This is my first go with the Sew House Seven Cosmos Sweatshirt pattern and, I suspect - well, I know! - it will not be my last!
I loved making this sweatshirt up. The instructions are great, right down to advising when to sew in the label (and exactly where and which way up to sew it) so you know which is the back when it's finished. This is really helpful as it is quite hard to tell otherwise. See my previous post of the label going in before assembly.
I made the funnel neck version #1 with the cuffed sleeve B. The sleeve has a lovely gentle bell shape which is easy to wear; big sleeves are great, but sometimes you want something that won't fall in your soup or get caught in the door when you're taking the rubbish out (just me?!).
One change I might make to future versions of this view is to simply overlock the neck edge to finish, as the double fold (secured with double sided fusible tape) kind of rolls up at the edges and overlocking might actually be neater and easier to keep flat in the long run.
I made this in May so I can't enter it for the Top Idol challenge - I couldn't wait to get started with this gorgeous pattern so I reasoned it would make for a good wearable toile for my June entry - and I was right! The only adjustment I needed to make for the second version (see next post) was with the waistband, and given this adjustment needs to be assessed and made for every version if you use a different type of fabric (with a different stretch percentage), it was very handy to have an extra metre or so of fabric to play with.
So pleased I got to make both versions of this sweater - the boxy style makes it very economical to make in terms of fabric metreage, so you will easily get two out of 3 metres. I also love how you can play around with the different views to create a bunch of different styles... Looking forward to playing with this for years to come!
