Floral Naras
Hello friends
I am so happy to share my new floral pants today! These might be my new favorite pants this summer! I used a gorgeous cotton lawn for my pants and they turned out just as amazing as I’d hoped. This floral cotton lawn is beautiful, it's so soft and so lightweight, it would be perfect for tiered dresses or skirts and all the dreamy gorgeous summer sundresses. But ever since I saw this fabric, I had pants on my mind so that’s what I made. The fabric washed and pressed beautifully and I did not notice any shrinkage with washing. Because the fabric is 56” wide, I needed only about 1.5 m of fabric for my pants. The colors are as muted and subtle in real life as they’re in the pictures which I think makes them perfect for these pants. I like that they go with so many tank tops and blouses in my closet.
For the pattern, I chose the Nara pants by Coffee and Thread patterns which is a wide legs pants pattern with an elasticized waist and curved pockets. They come in shorts, 7/8th and pants length and include sizes 0 to 24. Since this was my first time making this pattern, I made a muslin first with some adjustments in rise and length. For my floral pair, I made the same size 4 with the same adjustments which was, shortening the rise by ¾” and the inseam length by 2.5”. I also added a tie belt because halfway through making these pants, I started to worry if they’d end up looking like pajama pants so I added the belt in. I needn't have worried because I wear them without the belt all the time and I really love the flat front coupled with the pockets and the general shape of the pants makes them look like the perfect pair of summer pants.
Wearing them with a button up shirt is my favorite way to wear these pants. The shirt is an upcycle from my husband's button shirt using the Willamette shirt by Hey June. Maybe I should do a reel with all the tops that go with these pants! I am so happy with how these pants turned out and I absolutely love this gorgeous cotton lawn. Because it is so lightweight, even if you pick a project that requires a lot of gathering, this fabric wouldn’t add any bulk to the seam so it would be perfect for making voluminous flowy garments. It is also really easy to press and sew with. I love how my new floral pants turned out!
Thank you for stopping by and reading about my dress. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have about this project :)

Happy Sewing!
