Hello my fellow sewists!
I sewed a long-sleeved Seychelles top by Itch to Stitch from viscose challis fabric. My affiliate link to the pattern:
https://itch-to-stitch.com/product/seychelles-top-digital-sewing-pattern-pdf/?affiliates=undukas When Seychelles top came out, I knew I wanted both ones – the short sleeve and the long sleeve variation. I used cotton-linen blend fabric for my short sleeve top and I knew at once that I needed something more fluid and with softer drape for the long sleeve top. In came the navy paisley print viscose challis and I felt like I won a lottery. This top is perfect!
It combines several of my favorite things:
* Viscose challis is fluid, drapes well and doesn’t look like a tent on me.
* Paisley pattern on this fabric is just downright gorgeous!
* Navy colour is so pretty and goes with almost everything.
* Seychelles pattern is simple enough to showcase this beautiful fabric and I can wear it with skirt or jeans or shorts.
* Viscose fabric is breathable, smooth and easy to wash. If your dryer does a good job, you wouldn’t even have to iron it! Also – wrinkles don’t show on it too much. Easy to care for, easy to wear.
As I said: perfect! Even when it’s warm.
I made some tiny adjustments. I left out the binding (or cuff) and finished sleeves with elastic. This way I can push sleeves higher and they stay there. Also, elastic is much easier to sew. I do like the button and cuff on the photos though – I think when I want more elegant finish, I’ll use that one. I blended the sizes – my hips are one (sometimes two) size larger than my waist and bust, so I added some extra room for the top to fall nicely. I often use one size larger sleeves too.
I love how the simple things in sewing (or cutting out) make the clothes look great on me. I’d never find a top fitting me so well from a shop. I always have troubles with sleeves (too narrow), shoulders (back is usually too tight and when it fits, front is too wide), hips (everything punches upward because there just isn’t enough room). I’m thrilled that I don’t have to buy any clothing (except underwear, socks and stuff) from shops. I think my wardrobe is 90 percent me made and fitted for my body. 😊
See you soon!
