I read my yesterday’s text and I must admit that I was tired. There should be rule not to write when you are tired and all your thoughts are messy. Today’s post is better!

I got to use this smooth tweed fabric with beautiful subtle colours and I love the result. It’s a perfect jacket for summer months! Cotton blend tweed has different colours woven into the fabric and it looks so pretty. It’s a great weight fabric for jackets – it holds its form, but isn’t stiff.

I made my jacket using a pattern from Burda 10/2014 magazine. I interfaced both front (inner and outer), side and back panels with lightweight interfacing. I didn’t use any interfacing on the sleeves. I made the sleeves wider for about 2 cm on the bicep line. I used full bicep adjustment lesson from Closet Core patterns website. I left my jacket without buttons and buttonholes, instead I sewed the buttons on the belt and to the other end of the belt I made two button holes. After wearing my jacket for a walk outside, I think I’ll add a small button to the jacket too. It would be under the belt, so it wouldn’t show when the belt is closed.

I used viscose and polyester blend lining from my stash. I also added piping where the lining meets my main tweed fabric on the front and on the back facings. I have to thank my sewing-friend Mari-Liis for inspiring me with her beautiful jackets. It’s such a small detail, but it gives something extra and really nice finish to my jacket.

I’m really pleased with the way I made my jacket. It’s better than I hoped for 😊 Now I’ll keep my eyes open for tweed fabric so I could make a second one.
