Can I be honest here to say that comfy tee and lounge sets are what I wear most everyday? Don't get me wrong - I love sewing and wearing all the pretty things but there's nothing like being comfortable at home in some good cotton knit fabric paired with elastic waists! Hands down the most worn items in my wardrobe but somehow mostly ready to wear and not made by me... This had to change!
So when I saw the pattern test call for the new Pattern Scout Comfi Lounge Set I jumped on it. Casey of Pattern Scout always has the magic tough for wardrobe staples with just the perfect cut. The Comfi set is no exception - the seemingly simple tee and elastic-waisted lounge trousers are impeccably drafted and oh so versatile.
You know when you trust a pattern designer completely, when you test with Art Gallery fabrics with no hesitation. In about an hour I have the perfect scoop neck tee in one of my favorite AG print - a fresh take on blue/white nautical stripes with little lizards hidden around. I have previously made a dress in this print in cotton poplin (https://www.minerva.com/posts/1007756), and always thought the print would be so lovely in a cotton jersey tee.
And I was not wrong - if you have not tried AG cotton jersey, it's absolutely a treat. The softness and stretch/recovery is simply outstanding! It's hard to go back to RTW tees after wearing an AG jersey tee. The Comfi tee pattern is fitted with some negative ease and feels amazing with the AG jersey!
Pattern Scout patterns are known for their versatility and hack-ability. The Comfi set offers so many built in options: long/short sleeves, screw/scoop neck, shorts/trousers, in-seam pockets etc... I made the scoop neck short sleeve tee and shorts with in seam pockets. My shorts are made of a soft heather grey french terry from stash but Minerva offers very similar ones (linked below).
The fit of my Comfi set is superb for a test sew and I won't change a thing except for all the future hacks I can see in my head! The tee is a perfect base for a dress - just add a circle skirt! And these lounge trousers in full length are just begging for a slim cuffed hack! The possibilities are endless!
