Here's the other dress that was in my sneak preview recently.
I previously made the Lulee dress by Papercut Patterns and I have also made this dress - the Springe dress by Sew Love Patterns.
I'm torn about which one is my favourite 🤭
As previously, I didn't toile 😅 in all honesty the bodice is slightly big on this, the next version I'd size down, maybe a half a size/ a full size on top.
The features of the springe dress include gathered sleeves with an elasticated cuff (short or long) and the option of a flared midi skirt with a front split or a gathered skirt (which the latter is not a pattern piece you just measure and cut). I chose the gathered skirt for a more casual look. I would still like to try the other skirt style too. Both have a V neck, with bust gathers and a curved waistband. It calls for a side zip which I did install. This dress doesn't have pockets, I'd probably insert some into the side seam next time... (If I make another gathered version). I want to knit a cropped jumper, I can see myself wearing this through autumn with tights and a me made jumper over it👌🏻
The fabric is the very beautiful Minerva Exclusive Melissa Lowry Flores Abstractas Viscose Challis. I love all the Melissa Lowry prints, they are stunning. This is one of my favourites. The pattern, the colours, it would be beautiful on any base cloth. Which you can pick through print on demand.
I chose a viscose challis, as it is known for being soft, having a good drape and being a natural fibre. I tend to try to wear natural fibres where I can. I find them breathable and comfortable to wear, this definitely is. It is not see through at all and I very much enjoyed twirling around in it. I washed at 30 degrees as advised and line dried it when the weather was better. It was easy to press. I used a new sharps needle to make both of my recent dresses and this prevented any runs in the stitching. I have had this happen before. This definitely is the winning needle for this.
I think this print would look great as the springe jumpsuit too. For everything tbh. I love it so much 😍 what have you made in this print ?
