Needlecord Just in Time for Autumn/Fall!

I had originally planned on using this Latticed Leaves Stretch Woven Cotton Needlecord for a shacket last spring, but I'm actually glad the project got delayed as this will be the perfect layering piece for fall weather in my part of the world 😊

I paired it with the Sew Over It Farley Shacket in the longer version. I had previously used the same pattern for a lighter summer shacket in the cropped version, but this longer version is better suited for the weather ahead, and I can wear it over dresses and pants.

Why This Fabric Works for a Shacket

Needlecord has this weight and structure that just feels good when you're wearing it. The Latticed Leaves print in teal and green tones with the leaf pattern is just up my alley as evidenced by the teal dress I'm wearing in these pictures 😊

The stretch in the woven cotton is subtle, but it makes it so cozy even for a boxy piece like this. It would be absolutely fantastic for a more fitted garment such as trousers or a pinafore. A little bit of stretch is always welcome in my book!

Construction and Finishing Details

Because the fabric has enough body, I only interfaced half of the button plackets and left everything else un-interfaced, and it worked beautifully. The fabric cuts, sews, and presses like a dream, so it was a very fast project. Instead of buttons and buttonholes, I decided to use snaps and I love them.

I'm ready for the season ahead, wearing stylish leaves while the leaves fall around me!
