Pattern: Lina Bottoms - Needle & Thread

Fabric: Minerva Exclusive Melissa Lowry Campo de Flores Linen Viscose Blend POD Fabric

Some patterns are simply too good to sew only once… That is why, after the success of my first pair, I decided to sew the Lina Bottoms by Needle & Thread again. This pattern was already a favourite, and this second version has convinced me once more. It is the kind of garment that not only looks beautiful but is also incredibly comfortable to wear. The Lina Bottoms is a versatile trouser pattern featuring three different lengths, a high waist and a relaxed fit. The trousers include an elasticated waistband, patch pockets and a matching belt. You can choose to make them as full-length trousers, a cropped version or as shorts. I haven’t tried the shorts version yet, but it is definitely still on my sewing list!

What makes these trousers so lovely is the combination of the relaxed shape and the elasticated waistband. No restrictive fit, just a comfortable and stylish pair of trousers that can be worn casually or dressed up. The pattern is suitable for medium-weight woven and knitted fabrics and is available in 16 sizes, ranging from size 32 to size 62.

For this version, I chose a stunning fabric from the Minerva Exclusive collection: the Melissa Lowry Campo de Flores Linen Viscose Blend POD Fabric. This fabric is part of the new Minerva Exclusive x Melissa Lowry Collaboration Fabric Collection. For this collaboration, Minerva teamed up with sewer, designer and illustrator Melissa Lowry. Melissa, originally from Mexico.

The fabric is made from 30% linen and 70% viscose and, at 180 grams per square metre, it has a lovely medium-weight quality. The linen gives the fabric a natural look and texture, while the viscose adds softness, beautiful drape and extra comfort. A perfect combination for these lightweight and comfortable trousers.

I am once again absolutely delighted with my Lina Bottoms and I know they will be worn many times.
