Off to a casual ish birthday party this weekend so thought I’d make a hack of my favourite newlook 6575.

I bought this cheap and cheerful crepe fabric a while ago knowing I wanted to play with the stripes and make a sort of wrapped top on the diagonal and a skirt with the stripes in different directions.

The pattern gave me the right kind of loose casual top I wanted with grown on sleeves, but I needed to create the crossover wrap. In the photos I’ve tried to describe how I did this.

The skirt of the pattern is as per the pattern and I’ve then added a length of the fabric to the bottom. I did have to slightly ease this on as the hem of the pattern is curved but to get the stripes going horizontal this bit is straight. It still hangs ok though.

As the front bodice is cut on the bias and the back isn’t I couldn’t match the stripes which is a bit annoying but I’ve balanced as best I could.

This fabric is a synthetic fibre so I’m just hoping the weather cools a little or the venue has aircon!
