When the Friday Pattern Company bought out the Canyon Pattern I knew it was a top I needed. I wasn't entirely sold on the dress version until I saw this fantastic royal blue viscose linen and knew a linen version would have the softness I would want. I am so pleased with the outcome.

The fabric is lovey weight, not too light that it doesn't hold any shape but still drapes. Also not heavy enough to feel too warm or bulky.

There are plenty off colours to choose from but this one Just stood out to me.

This core range fabric is 145cm wide and has a mix of 65% viscose with 35% linen. I found this composition made the fabric relatively easily to handle (did fray a bit so made sure I did the stay stitching and overlocked seams) it pressed well and didn't crumple much. As you can see in the photos there are only a few signs to the fact that I had been wearing it all day in the hot weather.

The fabric has a lovely slub woven texture which just add a little bit of extra interest to a plain colour.

The Canyon dres is relatively straightforward to make apart from that front placket! It's not that it's difficult to it's just fiddly! Having to press a tiny seam allowance in place before attaching just didn't work for me so I cut the placket out with an enlarged seam allowance which I then trimmed before attachin -it just save me burning my fingers and I got it neater so i'll do that again in the future.
