When I saw the new fabric designs by Melissa Lowry, I immediately fell in love with the Estampas Rojas print. Isn't it just gorgeous? I know orange isn't my best colour, but I love it all the same, and I thought it would be perfect for a summer dress.

I chose to have it printed on Ecovero viscose challis because I just love that fabric quality—it's so soft and silky and great to work with, it presses really well. I recommend using a fine Microtex needle when sewing it.

I made the Grace Dress by Marsha Styles and Abby Sews. Although Marsha Styles has closed down, the pattern is still available from Abby Sews. I didn't change much about it: I made it a little longer and omitted the pockets, as I generally don't like pockets in viscose or jersey dresses. I also added a label to the back so I can quickly tell the front from the back when putting the dress on.

I really like the contrast between the Mexican-inspired design and the Scottish landscape. The photos were taken on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides on a day when the wind was kind to us.
