Following on from my last post all about this fantastic fabric made from discarded banana stems, here are some photos of my top being worn.

The day was just warming up when these photos were being taken and I felt very hot in my trousers and new top, so I'm thinking that even though the fabric is fine, my top will be perfect to wear in the colder months. I can't promise that of course but that's what I'm believing right now and time will tell.

The fabric is 40% cotton and 60% banana plant and it's tougher than it looks. Minerva say that the cotton content is what gives it its strength and durability.

I tested my stitches by making a scrunchie first. I had to adjust the tension in my machine slightly and away I went. Having made this pattern before, I knew to mark the back carefully as it's easy to get confused by the arm pieces and the fronts and backs if you don't.

New Look 6892 is a very simple pattern that's easy to fit so if you're a beginner and want a quick win, definitely consider this if you like any of the views.

I love my new blouse in Archway Array, it's my new favourite.
