Pattern: Style Arc Montana Dress extension pack View C with short sleeves.
I shortened the sleeves and added a frill to tie in with the neck. I followed instructions to understitch front edge facing before attaching collar stand. I don't know if this is the reason I couldn't line up the collar with the front neck. However, I gave up after 3 goes and actually quite like my interesting new 'design feature'! The whole dress turned out huge! As I had used both patterns before, I didn't bother with a toile and thought this was going to be pretty straightforward! I ended up removing the skirt and putting waist darts in the front and back bodice and recutting skirt to a size 12! It needs a narrow shoulder adjustment too, but it was too late for that! When I was tidying up afterwards, I found a note in the pattern saying 'next time try a size 12'🤣
The fabric: Minerva deadstock viscose challis. I've tagged the black but I used the navy. It's a real bargain at £4.99 a metre. I bought it last August but it is still available. It is heavier than it's gsm suggests and has a lovely weighty feel and drape and a beautiful softness. It was easier to cut than most challis, sewed beautifully and, bonus points, hardly creases at all.
