BRODERIE ANGLAIS? REALLY?

I'm delighted to introduce you to Minerva Eclusive Bobcat Brush Cotton Eyelet Broderie Anglais POD Fabric Fuchsia. Now available in a range of different colourways and designs. It is a real updated classic and at 90 grams per square metre classed as lightweight. It's 100 percent cotton with a moderate drape.

I had intended to make a top but as soon as I opened the parcel knew it deserved to be a dress. I only had just over 2 metres so with careful pattern layout and some clever patchwork (at the back, obviously!) managed to complete my project.

You are looking at somebody who hardly ever wears dresses and certainly never wears bright pink! And guess what? I absolutely love it!

As usual I washed the fabric in the machine at 30 degrees and air dried. Sewed with a Gutermman thread and a Universal needle size 90.

Thank you Minerva for giving me the opportunity to try out this new fabric under the Ambassador programme.

This is an entry for #SewnWithBig4 challenge. The pattern is the very popular Simplicity 8910.

As you know broderie anglais is a form of cutwork embridery in which round holes are pierced in the material and the cut edges are then overcast. These are grouped in a pattern which are further embellished by simple embroidery stitches on the surrounding fabric creating a very pretty effect.

Happy sewing . . . .

Avril
