Hello Minerva community ❤️
I hope you are all enjoying your week. I am so excited to share my latest project for the Minerva Ambassador program using the beautiful Minerva Core Range Panne Velvet Stretch Knit Fabric. I hope you like the dress and enjoy reading about my process.
Firstly, I absolutely love the color of the fabric. I’m especially drawn to fuchsia and magenta tones, so I was very happy with this beautiful shade. The fabric comes in a range of stunning colors. It feels luxurious and is incredibly comfortable against the skin. I love sewing with velvet fabric, and this is my favorite so far. I’m excited to use it more in future projects.
I wanted to create a gown style dress, and I felt that The Charm Patterns Society Dress pattern would be perfect for this project. It has a glamorous, 1940s inspired design. I’ve seen other makers create the Society Dress using the same fabric, and they all look stunning. It was really helpful for inspiration.
I previously made a dress using Butterick 6380, which is very similar to the Society Dress, as both patterns are designed by Gertie. So I decided to draft a new pattern based on the Butterick design. The main difference is that instead of a sweetheart neckline, I created a V neckline. I also lengthened the skirt. Otherwise, the designs are quite similar. It’s not exactly the same look, but I’m very happy with the final result.
Overall the fit is great, although I feel it is slightly too big around the bust and a bit bulky around the neckline. Since I love this pattern, I will make adjustments for my next project to achieve a perfect fit.
Thank you so much for reading! I truly hope this inspires you or helps with your own projects. A huge thank you to everyone in this community. You've all been such an incredible source of inspiration and support 🥰
