Hello darlings 💜,

I’m back, and let me tell you, this dress is a stunner.

This fabric? Absolutely incredible. The Melanated Marbling Stretch Woven Cotton Poplin, a Minerva exclusive in collaboration with Terrance Williams, feels like butter and sews like an absolute dream. One thing about me, I appreciate a fabric that can take heat without stress, and this one handled beautifully.

Now let’s get into the dress.

Believe it or not, there was a time when I didn’t like dresses. I never felt they flattered me the way I wanted. But making my own? Completely changed the game. Once you can tailor a garment to you, it becomes a whole different experience.

I’ve had this pattern on my radar for quite some time, but I’m a firm believer that the right pattern and fabric pairing makes all the difference, and this combination? A match made in heaven. I am obsessed.

The pattern is labeled as intermediate, with only 8 pattern pieces, and overall the construction came together fairly smoothly. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and if you’re comfortable sewing buttonholes, you’ll do just fine.

The only part I wasn’t too fond of was the collar installation method. I decided to follow the instructions this time because I wanted to see their finishing technique, but let’s just say… snipping those corners felt a little dangerous 😅 I may or may not have nicked my fabric slightly. Lesson learned: trust your own methods!!

One detail I really love is that the wrap section is actually an overlay attached to the bodice, with ties added to create the extension. Such a beautiful design detail. And honestly? I can already picture this hacked into a shirt because the wheels are definitely turning.

If you’re looking for a dress with elegance and a little edge, this pattern is absolutely worth trying.

Will I make it again?Without a doubt.

Thanks for reading, and until next time 💜
