Pattern - Itch To Stitch Ladera Shirt Dress
My longterm sewing goal is to continue to use the patterns in my stash that I have not yet tried, and so the Itch To Stitch Ladera shirtdress came to mind for my latest make. I've used this lovely Linen Viscose blend before and it is ideal for a summer shirt dress. After washing, it becomes so soft yet still retains some shape. And there is something so satisfying about sewing on linen of any type. The pieces of the pattern always fit so well!
I remember sewing my first linen garment garment when I was 14. It was a 'nehru' jacket in a black and white print and I made a bright yellow lining. It turned out well and fed my sewing confidence.
This was my first time using the Ladera shirt dress pattern. I found it to be well-drafted like all of the Itch To Stitch patterns and they are easy to fit to my measurements. This pattern also has cup sizing, which is a bonus and saves me a step. I toiled the bodice an found I needed to shorten it 2.5 cm, and after completing the entire dress I think I will shorten the bodice another 2 cm. I'm very short waisted but I think it will help with the visual proportions of the dress. I used the cuffed version of the sleeve for this one. The directions of this dress are excellent, and also include a hidden button placket if desired, but I like the open placket myself. This isn't a quick sew by any means, but it was a joyful sew on this gorgeous fabric!
