I have a much-worn ready to wear sweater shaped like this - with drop shoulders, a wide body and narrow sleeves. It’s extremely comfy and the fit is flattering. Fibre Mood Cara seemed like the perfect pattern to replicate it.
Cara is from edition 28 of the magazine which I’ve tagged here. I personally love having the physical magazine, seeing the different looks and going back to patterns again and again, but the actual pattern tracing and cutting is very faffy. You can also get an individual pdf version online which would be simpler.
As you can probably tell it’s a very easy sew and an ideal weekend project. I’m usually a size 12-14 and I made the M. It’s very roomy on the body and upper arms, but if you have chunkier lower arms you might want to check the fit of the sleeves.
I love the striking print of this Minerva Exclusive fabric. It’s called “celestial cats” and has a very dark blue background featuring tigers, leopards, suns, stars and gemstones.
The base fabric is a recycled fine sweater knit. It’s really light and soft and perfect for a spring/summer knit. I like the fact that it’s made of recycled materials. Because it’s printed it is white on the reverse. This can’t be seen through, though, unless it’s stretched really tight. The weave is quite loose which makes it super stretchy - brilliant for those skinny sleeves. But you need a lot of pins to keep it in line when you’re sewing!
