Pattern Description
Noodlehead Yarrow Wristlet & Pouch Pattern: You’ll love this versatile pattern. It’s a satisfying sew, has fun details, and makes a great gift! The Wristlet is perfect for running errands or using as a wallet in a larger bag (hint - it works perfect in my Sandhill Sling!). The Pouch is great for a smaller wallet or to keep small items organized - plus it's sooo cute! The Wristlet has an interior zippered pocket and card slots, and the Pouch has a pocket and one card slot to keep everything tidy and easy to find.
Noodlehead Petal Pouch Pattern: A fun-shaped set of pouches that you’ll love to fill with your favorite notions and goodies.
Pattern Sizing
Yarrow: Wristlet & Pouch. I made the pouch.
Petal: 2 sizes. I made the larger one.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy. I have sewn quite a few Noodlehead patterns because her instructions are always reliable.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that both patterns come with size options. They both take very little fabric. You could make them multiple times as gifts and use up scraps.
This not the fault of the pattern but I do find it hard to sew bags because they are thick and bulky and you're often sewing tight or fiddly corners. These pouches were no exception and my seams are far from perfect.
Fabric Used: Minerva Exclusive Bobcat Brush Cotton Denim Twill POD Fabric Caramel: I made the exterior out of this leopard denim. So cute!
Minerva Core Range 100% Craft Cotton in Sand: I used this basic craft cotton for the linings. I chose a lighter color to make it easy to see what's inside.
Changes/alterations: I used fusible fleece instead of standard interfacing. Next time for the Yarrow I would stick to regular craft interfacing as the boxed seam was too thick with the fusible fleece. The pattern also calls for interfacing on the lining and next time I would use fusible tape on the curved edge only to get rid of some of the bulk.
I found that using fusible fleece and an uninterfaced lining on the Petal was fine (which is what the pattern calls for).
I also left off all pockets, straps, and other details because these pouches will live inside my handbags to keep my items from rolling around loose. I don't need any extras like card slots so I just left those details off.
Would you sew it again? Perhaps not immediately but I would sew both patterns again, if not for myself, than for quick gifts. The sizes I chose for each pouch are perfect for my needs.
Conclusion: I was able to sew up both of these pouches in only one day. They were a fun little break from sewing garments and I'm decently happy with how both of them turned out. They may not be perfect but they should be very functional additions to my pouch collection. I love the leopard print. It's fun to have a cute matching set.
