I found this glorious cotton lawn in a recent Minerva sale without really having a plan with what to do with it. I eventually plumped for a pair of super luxurious pyjamas. I have decided that I'm like the princess and the pea! I hate anything constricting on me in bed and so even piping cord and lumpy buttons are irritating. The carolyn pyjamas are a stunning make and I have worn the top as a summer shirt but the fitted nature of those pyjamas mean that I like them more for their appearance than for comfort. I have made the Merchant and Mills winnie pyjamas as a gift before but not for myself and decided that the more relaxed fit would fit the bill better for this make for myself.
I washed the fabric at 30C for ironing it and cutting it out. I used a rotary cutter and mostly used my regular machine with a new sharp size 70 needle and gutterman polyester thread. The seams are all french seams. I edged the collar, front and pocket with an slight insert of bias self fabric instead of piping. It hardly shows but it does help define the edge and elevates the make a little.
I got the trousers and short sleeve top size 12 out of 2.5m but didn't pattern match the trousers.
The pattern is very well drafted and described and it is a quick and easy make , giving a lovely professional look .
I felt rather idiotic modelling the pyjamas but I hope it inspires some of you to give this pattern a try and try to get your hands on the remains of this fabulous fabric.
