I’m quite excited about the finished dress. To me, the print has a Scandinavian look to it, which is one of my favorite styles. I enjoyed making this project over the winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) so I’m quite excited to wear this in the upcoming spring and summer.

I would absolutely love to make this dress again. I think it would also be fun to make in a drapey fabric, like a rayon challis. With the panel details, this pattern would also be fun to mix different fabrics together for a patchwork look. I’m always looking for creative options to use of leftover fabrics into garments.

Although I inserted pockets into the dress, when I make this again I’d add them higher, vertically. I love that this version has functional pockets that I can use but I also enjoy finding small changes to make in the future.

One design detail that I really enjoy is the built-in elastic channel around the back of the dress. It’s a small fitted feature that is really comfortable to wear. I like the look of wearing a belt but the front is flat and open. You could add a belt to wear with this dress, or not. You can also adjust the length of the elastic to be tighter or looser, then the recommended length. I ended up pulling in the elastic to be slightly tighter.

I’ve been enjoying using up leftover fabric scraps from this project into linen drawstring bread bags. I’ve been recently baking sourdough loaves of bread at home so fabric bread bags have been in the back of my mind. It’s been quick to use the serger to piece the scraps together into drawstring bread bags. It’s been fun, quick to make, and a satisfying way to use up the extra fabric pieces. Besides bread bags, are there other ways that you’ve enjoyed using up linen scraps of fabric?
