I have a perfect make for this cold snap we are having!!
The newly expanded print on demand from Minerva includes sweater knit as a base so I had to give it a try. My friend loved the print and claimed it, so a new sweater for her was perfect.
I chose to use the cowl neck version of the Galena from Styla Patterns. It comes in dress or top length and has bishop or straight sleeves in a variety of lengths, with cuff or without. I went with straight sleeves and the top length with long sleeves for an elevated basic.
The sweater knit is black with teal splatters and despite printing on what I assume is a white base there appears to be no white out when stretching. It is very soft and doesn’t curl up a lot on cut edges like others I’ve tried. It sewed up very quickly with no issues, and is super cozy and warm for this ridiculously cold winter we have been having. It would make a great infinity scarf or lining as well I think because of that.
It washes up nicely and doesn’t pill for me so I like that a lot as well. There is ever so slightly a sheen to it thanks to the elastane fibers that give it some great stretch and recovery. All in all, a great base to have around
I did make her daughter a matching sweater as well, thanks to Little Lizard King having a youth version. She decided it was not her favorite….tweenagers haha.
Enjoy!! Let me know what you’re making from these new print on demand fabrics.
