Pattern Description: The Assembly Line Scarf Collar Shirt. The Scarf collar shirt combines workwear-inspired charm with clean lines and a versatile sewn-on scarf collar. It features a hidden button placket, rounded hem, and bias-bound, button-loop sleeve endings.

The scarf is optional, allowing for a simpler, classic look when omitted.

Pattern Sizing: XS-3XL. I made a size XS, shortening the sleeves 2 inches.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Not really. The instructions for the hidden button placket were confusing in places and I had to read over them several times to understand what they were getting at.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Personal preference: I did not like the order of operations in the instructions. They instruct you to do things assembly line style--like doing all of the pressing in the beginning. I do not like working this way as I am not a factory. it might be more efficient but it's not enjoyable for me.

Some sections have a .5cm seam allowance. That is really narrow and left a few holes where I had notched the fabric. I would prefer a larger seam allowance and instructions to trim after instead.

I will say that the pattern was well-drafted and everything fit together very smoothly.

Fabric Used: Minerva Exclusive Agrarian Passion Supima Cotton Lawn POD Fabric. This fabric was very easy to work with--presses well, doesn't fray too much. And it's not sheer.

Changes/alterations: I sewed a muslin and shortened the sleeves 2 inches. I lined the scarf as you are supposed to hem it, but my fabric had a clear right/wrong side and the back side would've showed when you tie the scarf. My fabric was thin enough that I was able to line it and not add much bulk.

Would you sew it again? No, probably not. I like this shirt and it's different from every other shirt in my closet but I do not need multiples.

If I did sew it again I would shorten the body by 1-1.5 inches. It's pretty long and because it's so oversized there's a lot of fabric to tuck in. Shortening the shirt would lessen the bulk a little bit.

Conclusion: I'm kind of surprised by how much I like this shirt. The scarf collar is such a unique detail and I'm looking forward to styling it. However, I didn't enjoy the process all that much and am not looking to make more.
