After the complexities of my last make, it was lovely to return to the sewing room with a quick and easy project. I’m always happy to be working with jersey fabric, and this beautiful one called Skopelos paparounes crimson from Art Gallery Fabrics was an absolute joy to sew.
I’ve had this cotton jersey fabric in my stash for quite some time, and I love the vibrant floral pattern combined with the stripes. As the weather warmed up, I realised there was a gap in my wardrobe of T-shirts, so I started searching for a suitable pattern. I wanted one with ample room around the waist, to ensure that the stripes wouldn’t be pulled tight across my ample tummy.
I stumbled across the laundry day T-shirt pattern from Love Notions. (So called because it can be made in less time than it takes to dry a load of clothes.) It offers three neck options: V-neck, round, or cowl, and also the option to make a tunic or dress, making it a highly versatile pattern.
It definitely is a very quick make. It actually took me longer to assemble the PDF pattern than it did to sew the top! My husband kindly cut out the fabric for me using a rotary cutter, and I then sewed it using my overlocker. The hems were finished on my cover-stitch machine.
I’m really pleased with the result. The fit is great, and it’s incredibly comfortable to wear. I’m already eyeing up my stash with a view to making more of these tops in the future.
Wheelchair Considerations
The length of the t-shirt is great as it falls in my lap but doesn’t bundle up underneath.
The neckline is great for being viewed from above, it doesn’t gape at all.
The waistline is very roomy and comfortable to wear.
It’s a very easy top to put on and off.
