#SpringLinenChallenge

Linen is definitely one of my favourite fibers to work with. I love that it's sustainable - renewable, biodegradable, durable, recyclable. It uses a lot less water than cotton, can be processed without using chemicals and can be grown on poor soil. There are lots of linen fabrics grown and made in Europe and I love buying local products.

There's nothing better than linen clothes in summer.

The Etta dress pattern by Merchant and Mills has been on my list for years. I was reluctant to make a wrap dress though - it's windy where I live and don't like the risk of having my underwear exposed. I do feel safe in the Etta dress though and am glad I made it. The front skirt pieces overlap completely so even with lots of wind there's no risk of unwanted flashing. It was easy to make - and it has pockets! The bodice is fully lined, I love that. I lengthened the bodice by 2cm as I am very tall. I did not lengthen the skirt but instead of a 5cm hem I went for a very small 1cm hem.

This gorgeous linen is verylight and yarn dyed, I love that - it's my favourite fabric quality to sew. The colours are so beautiful!

I am very happy with my April Linen make.
