I was waiting for better weather to make this dress but I am actually off to warmer climates next week and had just about enough time to squeeze this one in!

The fabric
I bought this cotton muslin at the Knitting and Sewing Expo in October. It is super soft and I love the lemon pattern. It is almost opaque so I didn't need to line it. There was A LOT of fluff when sewing and it frayed so much! There is a thin coating of fluff over everything in the study. Though once all sealed up, it is rather lovely and summery.

The pattern
I used McCalls 8177. I have sewn version A of this one before, this time I went for version B with some big sleeve drama. Like with the first time I created this dress, I took off 2 inches from the length. The other change was to fold over the top of the sleeves so that the bias binding was on the inside rather than the outside. I didn't have the right coloured bias for it to be visible. I like how the sleeves are constructed, using the elastic as the shoulder seam. It's very clever. The sleeve length is about 3/4, I am not sure if it was meant to be full length and I have long arms 🤷‍♀️.

It is a relatively simple make. Though it did take me a while because I finished all my seams with my lovely overlocker, to stop all the fraying. I also added another button so they weren't as spaced out. The buttons are made of coconut and are from my favourite haberdashery, just off of Oxford Street in London called MacCulloch & Wallis. Also it has pockets which I always love!

I can't wait to wear this in sunny LA next week because even though there is blue sky in my photos, it certainly isn't summer yet here in the UK. I am very glad I finished it in time. I have quite a bit of the fabric left. I need to work out what to do with it. Any suggestions?
