🪡 Pink, checks, and a whole lot of Hope! 🪡

Confession time: I'm a sucker for a good print, and this exclusive Tammy Handmade fabric has stolen my heart! The pink check design is giving me all the feels, and I just can't get enough of it.

As a sewing enthusiast, I love trying out new patterns and fabrics. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous viscose challis fabric to create my version of the Hope Dress Pattern using the extension pack by Style Arc Patterns.

🧵 HANDLING THE FABRIC🧵

So, what's the tea on this fabric? It's lightweight, soft, and flowy - basically, everything I want in a summer dress! However, it does require some TLC when handling. Think of it like a delicate flower: it needs a little extra care, but the end result is totally worth it.

Here are some tips and tricks for working with this fabric:

- Use a sharp needle to avoid snagging the fabric. I used a Microtex size 12 needle, and it worked like a charm!

- Cut the fabric with a new rotary blade on a self-healing mat. And don't forget to use fabric weights to hold those pattern pieces down!

- Choose an interfacing that's similar in drape and weight to this fabric. I used a soft tricot interfacing, but you could also try the Superlight Iron On Interfacing from Vilene Vlieseline.

👗 THE PATTERN 👗

Now, let's talk about the pattern. The Hope Dress from Style Arc is a dream to work with - it's simple, yet stylish, and perfect for sewists of all levels. I chose to make the crossover bodice B with sleeve option 3, and I'm obsessed with the result!

For reference, I made a size 12 based on my body measurements.

✂ CONSTRUCTION AND TIPS ✂

A few things to keep in mind when making this pattern:

- The dress has a lot of designed ease, so if you prefer a closer fit, size down!

- Adding ties at the waist gives the dress some shape and breaks up the volume of the fabric. Trust me, it makes a big difference!

- If you want a shorter dress, you can shorten the skirt piece by 15 cm. I did this, and it works beautifully with the flowy fabric.

♥️ CONCLUSION ♥️

In conclusion, making the Hope Dress with this gorgeous viscose challis fabric was an absolute delight. It's the perfect combination of style, comfort, and elegance. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a try, and let me know how it turns out!

Until the next project, thank you for reading and thank you Minerva for the fantastic fabric.

Happy sewing!
